BMW Key Fob Programming - E38 E39 E46 X5 X3 Z4 Z3 Z8

Got a new key for the E39 M5 and did the programming myself to avoid additional dealer fees. Programming initializes your remote key and pairs it with your BMW, letting you use it to lock and unlock your vehicle. Check out this video to lear how to program the bmw keyfob. The process is the same for any BMW using this type of keyfob including the E38, E46, X5, X3, Z4, Z3, and Z8 models.

OK> Thank you. I will try in the morning so I don't disturb my neighbours now. So if I do the master key first, I should be able to do the secondary key, but within 30 seconds. That is useful extra info. I have two original 1999 keys, and re-programmed one yesterday, but then... after that... what was the master no longer worked. So I hope doing them in immediate sequence will be the answer. Both have new batteries. Both have worked in the past 2 days, but not at the same time.. The reason I have the original keys from 1999 is the original owner had the car a very long time and it is a low mileage car. Becoming rarer now! :)

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO PUT YOUR KEY IN IGNITION AND TURN IT TO THE ON POSITION SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE BUTTON PROCESS. i have a 2003 bmw z4 and everything he says to do is accurate except for i had to put my key in the on position and remove it several times and then I heard it make a beep that I have never heard before, then I took it back out and help the unlock button while pushing the lock button 3 times

So by programming the remote is it automatically programs the immobilizer, or you still have to program the immobilizer on this

Regarding the blank key that didn't work - I've seen that the keys of the same physical design come in different operating frequencies and different FCC ID's, so maybe you got a mismatching key?

I hade the same problem as you. First key perfect and then tried 3 more keys non of them worked. There all brand new keys of the same make 😮
