Lovecraft was basically a 1920s poster, he never went outside, was extremely racist and terrified of social situations, but he did have a huge amount of correspondence with fellow weird fiction authors and could sometimes be very funny.

I think that despite Lovecraft's extremely unsocial and despressed lifestyle, he had the most joy with the correspondence he shared with the pen pals he had. So I like to imagine a sad man like Lovecraft would have that giddy feel everytime he found a new letter in his postbox and just nerd out with his nerd friends.
