Linda Ronstadt stated that the quality of Emmylou's voice was so pure and prayerful it was like she was making a last, desperate plea for her life and, if she could just sing this song, it would save her. That analysis is spot-on. She also had a great band behind her and she was certainly easy on the eyes!

I do believe Emmylou Harris is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life on the outside and the inside. She's hypnotic and captivating. So natural and so graceful. And she sings like an angel. Emmylou's the real deal.

Apparently Levon Helm said that there are two types of men in world. Those that are in love with Emmylou Harris and those who have never met her. (Yes, we all know now that it was Willy and not Levon.)

I saw Emmylou early on when Pieces of the Sky was released it was about 1975, she had Glen D Hardin and Burton plus Rodney, Hank, etc...amazing show in a tiny venue. The next day she and her band played softball against a bunch of locals...good times.

Emmylou and Rodney harmonizing always gives me the shivers. For a brief time, circa 1971, Emmylou actually lived across the street from me in DC. She sometimes would sit out on her front steps and play and sing, but she was very shy. I used to go see her play for free around town (I remember a brilliant performance of "Maybe Mexico" at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival) and I remember being very annoyed when she got a gig at a club and I had to actually pay to see her. Horrors! lol

Saw her about 6 years ago in Milwaukee and she and her latest band burned the house down at the Pabst Theater. They played a very long set and took a bow, which I assumed was the end but they came back and did at least another 90 minutes! One of the longest (in the best way), most generous and satisfying concerts I ever attended.

My mom's favorite singer!, and one of mine. Emmylou has such a magical quality to her vibrato. And her power, strength all the way to a whisper.

To me Emmylou has always been a bit special. She never got spoiled by her fame, I think. She has been true.

Emmylou and the Hot Band, I love listening to them. And I love listening to the two solo albums of Gram Parsons with Emmylou dueting with him on the vocals. Wonderful Americana Music that just doesn't get old.
