I understood everything this man just said. Three years of high school metal trades but they only offered 2. I liked it so much I took Metal Trades 2 twice. I didn't even get credit for it. We voted everything with 6010 5p+. Some guys were going and doing pipeline and construction so they got really good doing 7018 cap welds. Only thing I didn't learn was how to TIG. Had two machines but the instructor didn't know how to run them. Still wouldn't trade those years for anything. Thank you Mr Bell

I’m not certified welder but have welded for 25 years being a millwright. You pick up a few things after few decades of experience. And agree Lincoln is hard to beat.

Im an ole McKay brand myself, passed a lot of 1/4 7018 to 3/32 7018 and have run plenty 10018

Atom arc 7018 and Lincoln 6010 only way to go. The Excalibur 7018 doesn’t burn right. The flux is grainy and not as smooth as atom arc

My first real job after high school.
Was at Bethlehem steel shipyard.
The wire I used was Lincoln 6011.
And 7018.

It's Lincoln.... pure and simple. Everything thats state inspected and everything I've welded on military bases has strictly been specified... wire or stick, it has to be Lincoln product.

Tombstone is the way to go if you’re a really good welder, don’t need that fancy stuff.

I absolutely have a deep disregard for Lincoln welders. Most of them are not made in the states and start developing difficult personalities, that you have to learn to work with. That's besides my point. The Lincoln Excalibur 7018 rods are the gold standard in my opinion.

Thats your opinion of course but many of us love Lincoln its like ford chevy or mopar to each their own if your good you will adapt to any brand of rod

Esab can make good wire but I was disappointed in the sentinel hood :/

Concur on that 5p+ ..but 18, I do kinda prefer lincoln. Or Hobart..
