How To Do Inkjet Image Transfers With Hand Sanitizer!

What's up, everyone? Get ready to unleash your creativity with a cool twist on mixed media art – we're talking inkjet photo transfers using hand sanitizer! This unique technique lets you transfer your favorite digital images onto paper, turning them into personalized artwork. And don't worry, we've got a step-by-step guide to make the process smooth and fun.

*This is an experimental technique and may not work with your inkjet printer.

For this project, you'll need just a handful of supplies to get started. Here's your shopping list:

Cotton Paper (High-quality options like Arches or Rives BFK are perfect)
Hand Sanitizer (Yep, this is our secret weapon for smooth transfers)
A Barren (To help you apply even pressure during the transfer)
Foam Brush (For an even spread of the hand sanitizer)
Transparency Film (To print your photo onto before transferring)

This method is not just easy; it's also super versatile. You'll learn how to print your photo onto the transparency film, use the hand sanitizer to transfer that image onto your paper, and then how to make it pop with your own artistic flair. Whether you're a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, you'll end up with something truly special.

I have been trying to do this without using acetone and a 3000 press and suddenly...it worked thank you so much. I changed the paper bfk a little to expensive fir me bur. I brought 100 cotton rag paper that worked amazingly. Thank you. I can finally finish this series..without needing to go to a print shop.🎉🎉🎉😢🎉

Great technique and love your finished piece. I wonder if this would work on a gel plate as well?

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this technique, and I can’t wait to try. Only problem is I’ll need to buy a bubble jet printer as I only have a laser. Is there a bubble jet printer or brand that you recommend? I love the subtle mottling of the blocks of black rather than having solid. I’m a new sub, and looking forward to learning more from you…. And your lovely clear teaching manner and calming voice is so refreshing, I could watch all day. Many thanks from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺🐨❤🙏🏼😊

Wonderful. I wish this would work with my laser printer. I'll try it but you specified inkjet likely for good reason.

I just tried this with Epson transparencies on an Ecotank ET8550 and Canson watercolor paper -- and it did not transfer... I even tried to pour the sanitizer on the transparencies directly and the colours did not lift at all. I didn't wait for the transparency to dry overnight - not sure if that's necessary. Thoughts?

Hi Whats the difference between an inkjet printer and a normal one? Would this process work on a normal canon printer?

I tried to process and follow exactly and got an incredibly painful Transfer. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
