On the part about JC at 4:30 - you actually have this backwards, JC gives more stats compared to the other professions when replacing blue gems (for example a gain of 60 SP vs around 46-48). Once epic gems come out, this gain is 48 SP which puts it in line with the other professions, but certainly not worse than them.

Smithing + mining for role play reasons

I really want to get the professions where you loot recipes and craft gear with material you farm yourself. I know I will get tailoring+leatherworking+blacksmith, and with that I want to farm the mats myself, which is why I picked mage+hunter+warrior, I also will make a rogue, that gives me + profession spots, and I also want skinning and mining, that makes it 5/8 profession spots, now I don't know if I should go herbalism + inscription + potions, but then I miss out on jewelcrafting w/ mining... decisions decisions xD
Maybe I should just roll a DK with mining and herbalism, minmax this side of professions in an easy to level char, but then I have both warrior + DK, to much testosterone for me lmao. That would open up a slot though for me to roll druid instead of warrior, but then I want herbalism on my druid, not on my DK xDD
