The weird thing about durian is to each person is smells differently. To me it smelled sweet. My hubby smelled it and he gagged

I grew up with durian. As my mother was raised in the tropics. It does taste good it's definitely an acquired taste. And you cannot wrap it enough in cellophane or Tupperware or anything without it penetrating the aroma of everything in your refrigerator or freezer

Durian: Smells bad and has spikes. Thinking nothing will eat it.
Humans: Eats durian.

There are actually many flavor profiles for durians.. some of the durian shippers that also have tables to eat at can tell if one will be sweeter, pungent, more creamy, etc and you will pay based on the rarity of the flavors. So you can try many kinds instead of relying on just one sample. Maybe there is one you love and some you hate!

Love it as is or as ice cream, fermented durian be it raw or cooked, durian cooked in coconut milk as a form of dessert. The possibilities are endless with durians! It’s Malaysia’s King of Fruits!

I love the taste of it. I wish i had some now. I think it tastes better than it smells. Idk I've always thought durian tasted really good. It does have an sulphur taste though, but i mostly taste the banana mango kinda flavor.

I’ve only been around durian twice in my life. Part of my family lives in the Philippines and their house smells like durian, I got used to it quickly and by the 2nd time I was there, I actually really liked the smell of durian. I smelled and tasted sweet and creamy.
