It is due to change in speed of light due to different optical density of various medium...

Denser- diamond ( refractive index - 2.42...🙂)
As it went to glass slab from air and it is a denser medium so light bend towards normal and when it got out of it light ray got away from normal just due to less optical density of air... And the ray which was observed going out will be always parallel to the ray which is imaginary drawn straight.... 🙃
