*Turkey had the best response to "accidental" incursions by Russia in Syria.* After 10 warnings over 5 minutes, 2 planes entered Turkish airspace for 17 seconds. 1 plane was fired on 2 seconds after crossing the Turkish border and was shot down. Afterwards Russian pilot navigation instantly improved and there was no more "accidental'" incursions.

If NATO and Russia were siblings, Russia would be the one pointing it's finger an inch from NATO's face saying "I'm not touching you, I'm not touching you, I'm not touching you!".

This has been happening all over Europe, air and on sea, for years. Its just not often reported on US news channels.

Heard a while ago on the news here in Sweden, after the invasion of Ukraine started, that the Swedish Air Force had to chase away Russian military jets (again) close to or inside Swedish air space. It’s common though that the Russian military are terrible at geography and map reading, because they’ve always been very bad at staying within their own borders!

As a Swede, this is something I’m used to and have grown up with, I was also born before the fall of the Soviet Union so...

If going into the fantasy world for a moment, you could say that the Nordic countries are comparable with Gondor, and Russia is Mordor. We’ve just always lived with that threat from the East

I live in the UK. The RAF frequently scramble to stop Russian nuclear bombers from entering our territory and flying over our cities. This has always been the case since Russia developed nuclear bombs

I’m not an expert, but it seems pretty clear that Russia’s strategy is to provoke and prod, skirting right up to the line of provocation to see if their adversaries blink.

If Putin can't defeat Ukraine's army, what makes him think he can defeat the combined armies of NATO?

Putin is clearly a cruel heartless man and will eventually have to be taken out by all means. May God bless the ukrainians and put an end to this war.

If this has been happening for years, no wonder Putin thinks he can get away anything, This is what happens when bullies are allowed to run loose and free!

We did that every day during the Cold War. Always a possible serious threat.

Pretty normal, but still very dangerous brinkmanship.

The Soviet Union collapsed just a few years after the end of its ill-fated war on Afghanistan. Let's see how Russia does after its ill-fated war on Ukraine. May history repeat itself.

In northern areas, the Russians (and the Soviets) have been stress testing Norwegian warning systems and general air defence preparedness for decades and decades. Sometimes in an irresponsible way. These incidents were (and I guess, are) so common that most of the reports never made it to the news. But this is of course close to the current war zone. And thus far more dangerous.

Putin better be careful, NATO would destroy his air force in a day. The alliance has top quality jets, with well trained pilots with lots of flying hours. Don't poke the eagle.

Maybe if they started shooting down some of those jets Russia would realize we aren't playing.

Nothing new for countries in northern Europe having to scramble jets to intercept Russian planes probing, that has been going on for years and it also happens that the Russians test the US and Canadian air defense readiness.
At times the Russians have done such stunts near routes of commercial jets, something that is also dangerous due to the Russians not having switched on ID's and more making them "invisible" to civilian air traffic.

For a Nation that could barely supply a campaign against a weaker and smaller military bordering their own country, they seem hell bent on losing on multiple fronts.

This likewise happens regularly in the arctic near Canada’s borders and the Canadian Air Force scrambles jets to intercept Russian planes of all types. They’re essentially testing what other countries timelines are for intercepting and seeing their capabilities.

The UN needs to change it's charter to be the equivalent of NATOs "an attack on one is an attack on all". Then Russia needs to be removed from Ukraine and begin reparations. Russia crossed the line when they invaded, any other point of view is a denial of progress.
