Does ADHD Make You Accident Prone

In this video, I talk about how having ADHD can make you more likely to hurt yourself by accident.

Whether it be from impulsively doing something reckless, or just not paying attention to what we're doing. When you have ADHD you're more likely to get hurt.

This means that for some of us, ADHD can make us seem a bit clumsy at times... or a lot of the time, actually. But this is nothing to blame yourself for.

Some of us may actually have a second condition called dyspraxia, a condition that can affect how you plan and process motor tasks. This can make things like hand-eye coordination, balance, and spacial awareness more difficult.

Check out the video to see all the ways ADHD can contribute to the daily pains we may go through.

Dude the thing you said about getting hit by the door and literally not giving a rip just having absentminded thoughts about the actual practicality of some bit in monty python just being the 80% focus of your mind. Its just so true I lt happens to me constantly

Great video! I am 100% sure I have dyspraxia, but as an adult it's going to be difficult and expensive for me to get that confirmed. So I just read up on it and work with the info I can find about how to deal with it.

I'm not able to drive, sadly. Even before I knew I had ADHD (late dx), I knew I was a danger on the road because I panicked and couldn't focus and dissociated. People are terrible to me about that, but it's better than the alternative. I also tend to move slowly than people without dyspraxia do, so I can compensate. Again, people get angry at me for this, but I'd rather have them roll their eyes and name-call than injure myself.

I have undiagnosed ADHD, ( I'm trying to get a diagnosis), so far I've broken 14 bones, had numerous lacerations and cuts and grazes. Numerous sprains, torn tendons and ligaments, dislocated joints and 19 operations. The nurses at the ER know my first name without asking. I can't believe that one person could injure themselves so much. Even my GP has said that if someone told me about you, I wouldn't believe them.

I love your videos walking in the nature, but because of my adhd, I couldn’t really focus on listening what you say, I kept getting distracted by the cute goats following you! I had to watch it 5 times 😂😂😂 thanks for your videos, they are really helpful and positive 💕

Lol, shiny.... My adhd eldest used to pick up shiny objects, scissors, nail files and knives always went missing only to be found congregating in weird places, he turns 30 this week, he's still hyper focused on things and still picks things up without thinking but he's also amazing, exceptional at things he's interested in and a well adjusted adult, he's a dad to a clumsy 5 year old and a hyper 8 year old... They're amazing too.
One day he was like mum you have no idea when talking bout his daughter, he was genuinely shocked when I told him son "you were a hand full "because I never made him feel that way. 😊

I always wondered why I struggled to get good grades at school and why I struggled to keep jobs even though I worked really hard and why I had 40 plus driving lessons, one a week and my progess was so slow I packed it in, maybe it's also why I've not had any long term relationships and why talking In articulate way is so hard as I can't find the words and I can't explain something to someone else in a job for example as I often can forget what I can do myself but can't explain to others clearly. Adhd has made my life very difficult. Society judge you on a lot of the things I and we struggle with such as driving lessons, keeping a job, having a long term relationship, being skilled at something, good qualifications, good memory, able to pick things up at a normal speed where to ADHD folk it takes a little bit longer and then we forget again. It's ruining my life

Accidents for people with dyspraxia. Undiagnosed ADHD. Dyspraxia causes coordination problems.

Low dopamin levels do affect coordination and motor functions. Parkinson patients take L-Dopamin. Which makes me wonder if there is a relation between ADHD and Parkison.

CBD helps me focus...but forget to take it at critical times..and forget basics.. when focused on something else.

My issue is I have ADHD and it causes me not injury to myself but things around me I break stuff all the time and it hurts cause it makes me feel like I'm a burden to people around me cause I dont mean to break stuff but I know it makes others around me frustrated.

My girlfriend (with adhd) tried to say that the link between adhd and risk of injury was not real. Then you mentioned the door hitting you as you replay Monty Python quotes. :)
