The "regular development but blunder a pawn on move 8" opening is one of my most frequently played openings, so cool to see it featured in a video

The new mix of instructive and fun chess is perfect, Levy! THANK YOU

I have a suggestion for a series of video. You could solve puzzles of positions taken from middlegames of certain openings. For example: "Ideas and patterns in Caro Kann middlegames". Since most of your followers are beginners and seem to struggle from the middlegame onwards this could be a really helpful series of lessons

Love the "here's a concept", then "here's how it's used in a different number of situations" way of explaining things. Keep up all the awesome work!

As a player who isn't committed enough to memorize several opening lines, this is incredibly instructive!

Saw your videos back in march 2021, clicked cause of the crazy thumbnails (i didn't know how to play chess lmao). Been absolutely obsessed with chess for 10 months now, doesn't matter that i will never be a master, I love the game!

Thank you Levy!

Hey Levy. Checking in on this vid from your plug in the Charity Cup recap. Personally, this video did appear in my recommendations, but I wasn't in a chess-binge mood. I have a tournament in my college campus in a few weeks so yeah. Now I am. I know this is an individual voice and I don't represent a majority, but just wanted to let you know. I think this video didn't perform as you'd like because of clickbait culture, but I also wanted to add that your plug from the Charity Cup recap was really effective. I *would* recommend more dramatic reveals like that in the future, but maybe it'd get stale at some point. But also you're creative enough, so yeah.

the recipe for closed positions is already found out by Fatslob: berserkers, onagers, scorpions and treuchets. wall early then force them to go through your chokepoint.

Have you seen the game Karpov-Unzicker 1974? Probably the best example of complete domination in a closed position ever. For the first 40 moves the only trade is a singular pawn. Unzicker resigns on move 44, after just one set of bishops is traded. All of his remaining pieces are on the last two ranks.

Absolutely AMAZING video, very instructive and I’ve been needing this for awhile now. I’m sure my fellow 700s can agree that closed positions can be real tricky at times, where you just don’t know what to move.

Your content is improving, not implying it was not good back then but it feels good to see where you are today, keep growing Levy!

What a timing! I've just had a completely closed position and was like "Damn, I wonder if gotham has a video about how to handle these", and now it's here!

Hey Gotham, long time viewer here. I'm rated around 1500-1600 rapid and completely suck at end games. If you need some video inspiration, a tleast I would appreciate the same kinda video for end games! Great stuff.

I once played a 40 minute game where in total one single pawn was taken on like move 60 or so we agreed to a draw i still have nightmares of that to this day xd

Outstanding content! Strategic review backed by excellent examples. Straight forward and logical - gives us 800s a starting point in these closed games when we're stuck going "now what?!" Thanks for the super lesson!!

This should def be a course on his website. i need the 3 hour version of this and the instruction of open and semi-closed postions would be appreciated too.
