There are no doubts that the arrival of the new Scott Spark has been one of the biggest and most eagerly anticipated launches of the year. Now entering its 4th generation, the 2022 Spark has been completely overhauled with a brand new chassis and a concealed shock. It's certainly distinctive, but does the performance live up to all the hype? We've been testing the new Scott Spark 910 for the past few weeks to find out!

I own the Spark 950. I’m an intermediate MTB rider ( Total of 100km / 1200m climb per week, jeep and single track mixture ) and this bike is amazing to ride.

Great review. I’ve ordered the Spark RC Team and it’s arriving this month. Limited models and stock available in Aust right across the range. Really looking forward to the bike as my XC and marathon race bike. Syncross 2.0 wheelset will be the first thing that I swap out to save 0.5kg.

Very good review! Good hands on scenes, with a look inside instead of bullshit talk! At least some normal people here on Youtube!

I got this bike on the weekend. It's exactly the kind of trail bike I want. The geometry provides a stable platform to provide confidence and the light weight and suspension provides a poppy and fun ride - nailing all the extra credit bits on singletrack with this bike is fun, rewarding and not scary. The centre of gravity feels very low which makes nailing berms super fun, can't wait to try it at a bike park. For me this is replacing last years Spark RC Team. The RC is a much faster and easier bike to pedal, much more focused, but as you would expect less confident and not at all playful. Still a very capable bike for trail riding though just not as fun but so far I think I can ride for longer on that bike. I wouldn't recommend the 910 as a XC race bike, if you are going to do a lot of marathon riding or racing I would recommend to go the RC route. (The RC World Cup AXS is probably the pick of the line up anyway) Since I am making this my only bike I wanted a bit more give in the design which the 910 provides. However, I think the wheels and tyres on this bike are poor. I believe the wheels are around 2kg and the tyres are 900g or so each. The bike feels much more heavier than the 1kg difference to the RC that it apparently is. (I probably should weigh everything). I think that makes the bike a bit harder to pedal fast compared to the RC. I intend to get some carbon xc wheels and lighter, better rolling tyres on this for long days and race days. I think it will help a lot. I also find the front end a bit imprecise. That may also be not just the wheels but the slacker front end. Still, early days, a lot more riding on it to do! Personally, I love twinloc. I use it all the time while riding. One cool thing about it is it lets you have a bit more sag in your suspension as you can just firm it up for pedalling giving you two bikes in one for downs and for ups. I love suspension with open/pedal/lock modes and having it on my handlebar is just ideal.

Fantastic review in an awesome location that I’ll have to check out. I own a 2020 Spark 910 and absolutely love it. I personally prefer the look of the exposed shock and you’re right about the cables complicating servicing. Will be interesting to see if these trends continue with other brands.

Awesome review Will, thanks. You could be a salesman for Scott, as I’m sold. I don’t fancy racing, but I do fancy towelling my mates up, especially up the hill… Spark 900 for me all the way 👍🏻

Fantastic review! I know you kind of touched on this at the end when asked “who is this bike for”. I was just wondering how it fares as an all day/epic ride kind of bike. I currently have a hardtail XC bike (Scott scale 950) and looking to upgrade. I’ve found a Spark 940 locally, I’m just worried that this might be “too much bike” for me as someone who has never been to a trails park, but enjoys long XC rides. FYI I don’t race.

The driver post was issue for me. Needed it to be able to insert it about 3/4 inch further into frame and could not. I decided to ditch the dropper for a carbon fiber post. This also cleaned up the cockpit in my rc pro. Well worth for me.

I appreciate the engineering that went into the shock & headset, but really looks like a pain in the ass. Also the suspension lockout…I’ve had a bike with it; more trouble than it’s worth.

I was deciding between the Scott Spark and Canyon Spectral, but went for the Canyon, hoping I made the right decision. Can’t wait for the Canyon Spectral video!

Ok i’m going to buy this bike - is amasing. I have a problem with size 170 cm and all charts shows between s and m. And i don’t have possibility to try before.

Internal shock, that’s some real innovation! I’d also pretty to keep the shock internal to keep it clean!

I ordered a Spark RC Team Issue and it will be delivered May 2022. From the factory that model doesn't have a dropper but I'm thinking on putting an aftermarket dropper on it. How does that work with the Twinloc levers as my bike won't have the dropper lever integrated on the Twinloc remote. Can I intergrate any I-spec EV remote on the Twinloc remote?
