How to Change Ford Escape Purge Valve 2008-2012

Today I show you how to change a purge valve in a 2011 Ford Escape. This will work with Escapes between 2008-2012.

I watched this vid and replaced it a few years ago.
I got a different code yesterday, found this vid again, remembered that this caused some issues before, so got a FREE replacement from OReilys, swapped out and looks like I am good to go.

I called the dealership service center and they quoted $450 to replace!!

That x2 is almost 1G so thank you!!

-I do have a 6 cylinder, and it is a little harder to replace and reach, but still did fairly easy!

Thank you for the awesome tutorials Brian. Performed the purge valve canister replacement on my daughters 2010 Ford Escape 4cyl 2.5, removed and cleaned the throttle body. I cleared the codes by disconnecting the negative battery terminal (do not have a device to clear codes)
I also ended up replacing the fuel door gasket on the capless gas tank inlet. The Escape is now starting, idling and running much smoother. Now I’m just hoping the same trouble codes don’t reappear. Awesome channel here!

Got the P0456 and cleaned the capless fuel filler, no help. Went to investigate this purge valve to see what was involved in replacing it and when I removed the vacuum line (0:31), it seemed sort of loose. I cleaned the nipple on the purge valve then smeared it with dielectric grease to better seal the valve to the vacuum line. Trouble gone. Worth a try.

Omg sweet video. I have a 2012 Ford escape that just crapped out on me after getting fuel. It took probably 30 seconds to start. Runs fine now but somebody told me I need to get this part. Thanks for the video. Great video. Take it easy

Dude thanks! I got the code...then the autozone guy said "need gas cap" which isnt easy to do on the then the video you posted and even mentioned 8mm socket....took 10 minutes! error cleared....thanks so much! I subscribed !

Thank you for the video. I'm getting ready to install the valve, but the connector that you press to unhook only has one clip- I pressed the single one but the hose is not moving. Any suggestions? Also the other hose has a white band around it- how you disconnect that one? Thanks again.

How many valves does a 2011 have? I have a 2011 and when it’s idling it’s fine. Once you put in gear and have the air on it seems like it wants to die out. Took is somewhere and they say a valve is sticking but not sure which one as they didn’t have a compression test while the car is running.

I have a 2011 xlt and i cannot find the purge valve anywhere. Where would it be at?

Anyone have any advice on how to remove the hose and electrical piece? I can't get them off and don't t want to break them.

I literally just paid $232 out of pocket (part included) to have this replaced. I now see the part costs about $30 and the labor was ridiculously expensive to have this changed.... Thx for the video. Wake up call for the next fix 😠
