New Volvo XC60: You won't believe what's changed inside!

This is the Volvo XC60, and Mat’s about to find out if it’s as good in 2023 as it was when it was first released in 2017!

Well for starters, let’s take a look at the design. If we’re being honest, it hasn’t changed all that much from the original 2017 edition… But that’s not necessarily a bad thing! It’s got a good-looking, well proportioned side profile, and certain areas come with smart looking chrome trim, such as around the grille at the front. There is the option to swap this for black trim, but we’d definitely choose to keep the chrome!

Take a step inside and it’s a similar story with the design of the outside - it’s all pretty similar to how it was back in 2017. The portrait style infotainment system remains, although we’re not the biggest fan of it, given all controls are managed via the touchscreen. Thankfully though it’s surrounded by soft touch materials throughout the cabin, apart from the odd bit of scratchy plastic dotted around. The latest version of the XC60 also comes with a full digital dial drivers display!

There are a number of engines to choose from. There’s a 2-litre diesel with 197hp, or a 2-litre turbo petrol with 250hp. There are also two plug-in hybrid editions that make use of the 2-litre turbo petrol, with the range-topper delivering 455hp. Each comes with a 14kWh battery pack and the ability to drive on electric power alone for up to 43 miles.

When it comes to the price, an entry-level XC60 starts from just under £48,000, rising all the way up to around £68,000! So given the design has hardly changed in the last few years, is it really worth it? Or should you go for something like a Mercedes GLC or Audi Q5 instead? Let us know in the COMMENTS!

Would you pick an XC60 over a GLC or Q5?!

I gotta say, the pace of this review is very good. Going through the details of things as though it would be someone who's using the vehicle versus rushing through all the features. Really appreciate the timing of this one 🙌.

This channel needs to get back to reviews. Drag races are cool, but I still think the reviews are the best part of this channel

Last year I convinced my dad to buy the this car. I felt so proud and really love the car. I remember showing him your original vid of the 2017 model. He got the 2021 momentum model, it is really great. Thanks for the great content and humour!

I bought the 2023 XC60. My first Volvo after 30 years of Toyota ownership. Very pleased. Volvo does an excellent job keeping you posted through emails.

We bought one last week! Very happy with it in general. The android infotainment system is great with Spotify and Google Maps but it occasionally has its issues lags/freezes etc. The air suspensions makes it the most comfortable Volvo I have ever driven but it kinda drives like a boat because of it. We found the GLC too expensive for its interior quality. The X3 was also great but 22/23 models lack crucial features because of chip shortage.

When my family went car shopping, I steered my mom into the volvo dealership after looking at a tesla model y and she instantly fell in love with the xc60 and forgot about the tesla. I think that was a good move on my part

I was in a 2023 Volvo xc60 when I was hit head on by another car. The car kept me safe. Definitely one of the most safest cars out there to buy

Finally Matt! A normal car…I was starting to think Carwow had forgot it’s roots..

I had a Fiat Coupe 20VT from 1998.. it’s washer nozzle was also hidden inside the wiper arm. I don’t know why it got phased out, it was so much better than the standard sprayers. Glad to see it’s slowly coming back..

I like the Volvo a lot. I recommended it to a friend and he still bought a Q5. I forgot how much Matt loves the reach-around

The only thing that might be "the same as it's always been" regarding the main infotainment screen might be the LCD itself. The software is completely new. It was Volvo's own Sensus at launch, but has been replaced with a new Android Automotive based system from model year 2022. Otherwise, a great punchy review, Mat!

It's good of you MR Matt Watson to point out the front bonnet how high it is and how who ever but it is going to have to put some effort into closing it and also the speed too over all you did a very good review of this vehicle so keep giving it in that way fair and true 👍👍
