Foreigners First Impression in Tacloban City Leyte! 🇵🇭

Today was my first time visiting Tacloban city in Leyte on first impressions it was a cool little city with many food options, it was a nice change from the chaotic Manila as Leyte is more province so it is a lot quieter and more chilled vibes. We ate some great pork sisig and then visited the famous sta nino church and although it was beautiful it was quite annoying while in the church people were harassing you for money but that being said we really enjoyed the first day in Leyte

I'm here every year. Currently here now. You should have booked a room at GTC Apartelle. It's nice, quiet, bus stop is 100 meters away. And you get a two room furnished suite you can cook in. As for fairs, the metro bus to down town is only 65 PHP for two. Short hop to Save more, Robinsons, SM and forgot the other one. Wet markets, fresh fish from the Warf. It's not a bad deal. A little dirty at the moment, but the second fastest growing city in all of the PH's. Other than all the brown outs, which suck, they are making a lot of progress.

Back in March (2024) when I visited (explored) The Philippines for the first time for a month... I flew into Cebu... then flew to Borongan City / Eastern Samar.. and I rented a car and drove around Eastern Samar and Leyte (Tacloban City) .. The San Juanico Bridge in Tacloban is awesome/amazing. I actually saw it from the airplane while I was flying to Borongan City. It's a beautiful region of The Philippines.

Nice. Seems a lot more tame than Manila.
I get what you mean about the beggars in the church. They're just trying to pull a guilt trip on the parishners.
Usually churches help these people out, like they have programs to help them out with food and shelter.
Anyways looking forward to more from Lay's home province.

That is very close to Basey-Samar Leyte, the wonderful hometown of my Philippine wife. Just on the other side of the San Juanico bridge.❤️❤️❤️

Perhaps even Lay thinks she is Thai or Malaysian after being mistaken for a local so often. To be fair she doesn't really eat pork so that would make her less aware of the ingredients of pork sisig.

Sisig is my favorite I ate it several times when we were in the Philippines in June. That's a nice big 🌶 on it and yeah gotta have the calamansi. I have two calamansi trees growing in buckets here in the USA so I can bring them inside for cold weather.

My sister married a guy from Tacloban Waray maupay Lay mahusay, meaning good and beautiful, we’re from Cebu originally but Tacloban is always nice to visit every now and then, my sister lives there now, they own pharmacy internet cafe’s and copier machine shop and refilling stations, say hello to them from me now living in the USA.
