Aidan Beatty studied History and Political Science at Trinity College Dublin and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel . He also holds an MA in Modern Jewish History from the University of Chicago, and is currently completing a Ph. D. in Irish and Jewish History.

In August 2013 he delivered a talk entitled "A Comparison of the Hebrew and Gaelic Revivals" at the Irish Jewish Museum, Dublin. He contrasts the backdrops, political and cultural, against which which the two revivals took place and the role language was intended to play in terms of nation and identity building.

I don't think the speaker answered the question, why the revival of Hebrew succeeded and Gaelic failed.  He only presented comparisons without reaching a conclusion.

I just wasted almost 40 minutes watching this. The central question was NOT answered, it was actively evaded. Why did the Irish movement fail? How can it's revival be truly achieved? Given that Hebrew was a fully dead language and Irish is not, it should theoretically be easier. Is it because Hebrew gathered people with different native languages under a single lingua franca? I'm finding more answers on my own than what this video provided...
