The members who complained or "had queries" are an absolute embarrassment. Not being able to speak Irish is one thing, but complaining about another Irish person speaking Irish in Ireland is audacious

A language with such rich history should never be erased. The Celtic influence has profoundly shaped the European continent. Greetings from Greece.

Get the Irish language back in Ireland, the Welsh have done an excellent job and we should be following their lead before it's forgotten.

It's a start. The British have spent centuries - quite literally - making a concerted effort to eradicate Gaeilge, the native Irish language.
Just over 12% of the population of the six counties can speak it.

More than welcome. A very long time ago I was in HM Forces and I discovered, some time later, that my great grandfather was a (fairly militant) Irish Republican. And the Irish language is beautiful, is the native tongue of that Island, and should undoubtedly be treated like any other native language. How or why anyone might object is a testimony to bigotry and intolerance....

I never expected Irish to be so different - I was ignorant rather thinking it’s kind of dialect of English - she did a commendable job of making the world aware of the language

Sweet baby Jesus, keep it alive. It's a beautiful, reverent language. I dare say it's endangered. Thoughts and prayers from America.

My family moved to Canada in 1705 from Ireland, We still speak the exact same way 300 years later. We want irish independence. We teach gaelic in our schools, sad a movie made it true, every word spoken in gaelic is a bullet of freedom

I support your fight for save Irish language. It's normal that you should speak in your native tongue. I live in Poland and our neighbors Belarus almost lost their language like you. Btw. I support UNITED IRELAND!

As a Irish Australian I love and appreciate that to learn my native language. They way that was conducted in parliament was amazing and should be appreciated. As an Australian I wish we could conduct ourselves just as well for indigenous Australians. So proud to Irish background thanks for my family for having the guts in 1854 to move because of hard times. Culture never forgotten.

I like how the fellow at the end addressed what must have been a few incredulous faces: This is an opportunity. Put your headphones on.
