If you are adding a new cat or kitten to your feline family then learning how to introduce a new cat to your home and how to introduce cats to each other is crucial if you are going to maintain harmony at home!
Proper preparation is really important, making sure that you have prepared your home for your new cat. They have somewhere to be kept comfortable away from your other cats, and you have enough supplies - especially in terms of litter trays, food and water bowls, as well as bedding and toys.
At first, your cats should be kept separate before slowly introducing them to each other in a controlled, supervised manner. Done properly, there is a good chance they will be good friends. Done wrong though, they might hate each other forever!

By far the best video on this subject I have seen so, especially what you’ve said towards the end. It’s been 6 weeks since we brought in a rescue and intruding her to our 2 residents is a very difficult and stressful experience despite doing everything suggested here. We just don’t feel we’re making any progress at all. They seemed to be getting along ok behind the screen so we introduced her to our gentlest boy and she attacked him so viciously we feel terrible and really despondent now. I guess it was just too soon and we have to keep on trying but definitely do not do this on a whim and unless you have plenty of time, space, energy and patience to manage it.

Good video. Personally I taped cardboard under the door to the room I brought my new cat home to (on both sides) so that they could not scratch underneath the door or see under the door - it seems to have worked.

I got a third cat 9 months ago, my cats just hate it. It can really be a desperate situation, if I manage to get them to tolerate each other this will be the last time I do this. It has been such a burden even for my soul.

We are still trying to get our 2 other cats of 5 years to get use to her, her only encounters with the other 2 were when they strolled past the door and one of them started growling and lunging his body, then they both chased the new cat out but she came back after 2 days of us worried, will keep you updated

This is very difficult for my house. I currently have them in separate rooms while I’m at work but since we have dogs too, we have to have the house open. The new kitten doesnt give a crap about mu current cats she loves them. But my kittens that are 7 months old, aren’t liking the new kitten. I am going to work on the food, play, treat and to get them used to each other because during the day, the dogs have to be downstairs and the cats upstairs together. I really want the to be happy but now I’m worried we shouldn’t have gotten the née kitten. The 2 we have now are sisters and they’ve been together since day one. I introduced my kitten slowly but now that he has grown he try’s to play with the senior cats. He pounces on them because he wants to play with them but the want no part of him. He corners them in the litter. Every time he hears anyone in the litter and when they are at the water fountain. I don’t know what to do ? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, I have a new kitten in a safe room, and two resident cats have very different characters . My alpha cat can be a bully sometimes, while the second one is very elusive and will leave the house when we have any visitor at all. So that one has been staying outdoors much longer already and it is not so easy to bring him back home since he smelled the kittens presence.
I am alone at home and introducing a kitten to several cats at the same time still seems a bit tricky to me....

Had a brother and sister from kittens, both are skitty and indoor/outdoor. Homed a new cat from a relative We did introductions but as the male cat loves being outdoors he hardly came indoors. He as seen the new cat but he now only comes in for food and runs off outdoors when sees the new cat. He is a sensitive cat. The female cat just tolerates. I have no idea what to do with him?

What if my family and I are moving into a NEW home and also brining a NEW cat into my cats life’s? We already have 1 older cat and two kittens who are almost a year of age… But once we move my sisters boyfriend is having his cat (who’s also older) move in too… how would this work?… (Everyone is being I introduced into a new home plus a new cat…)
