Born into a gypsy community settled in the Alsace region of France, Biréli Lagrène grew up in the gypsy guitar tradition and at the age of seven was improvising jazz in a style similar to Django Reinhardt. He has performed with Al Di Meola, Paco de Lucía, John McLaughlin, Benny Carter, Benny Goodman, Stéphane Grappelli, Larry Coryell, Vic Juris, Philip Catherine and Stanley Clarke to name but a few. An interview not to be missed!

I have always deeply admired his expansive musicianship. That is actually an understatement. His ability on so many instruments is astounding. Now I’ve heard this interviewer I’m amazed by his genuineness, his humanity and broad intelligence. Thank you for this interview and to Bereli I must say I am in total awe of all aspects of who you are.
