What is Taraweeh? A bid'ah started by Umar according to his wishes. The actual recommended deeds are salat al layl (tahajjud) and reading Quran. It's a well established fact that non obligatory prayers cannot be performed in congregation(except eid prayers that's a different story). Taraweeh was not a thing till time of Abu Bakr. One day Umar was passing by a masjid and saw people all over praying individual salat al layl prayers and thought of putting them in congregation. This is how this started. All the fabricated hadiths that mentioned in any of the books are ofcourse given companions and followers of Umar and don't hold any value. The family of the Prophet (Ahlulbayt as.) never performed taraweeh or have told us anything to do such. And remember that just being a companion of someone doesn't prove much.

We the Muslims go in the opposite direction of what Quran decreed upon us. Does Umar(r) had any authority to invent anything? All Muslims don’t pray 5 times obligatory prayers, but they pray ‘taraweeh’ ( which is not mentioned anywhere in the Quran) every night during Ramadan. They complete the Quran but 99% people don’t understand it. What benefit they are getting from completing the Quran without understanding? Is that make any sense?

So called "scholars" shabbir ally & yasir qadhi are influenced by the deviations of the Salafiyyah Sect
which has changed Islamic Teachings into something different.
Tahajjud & Taraweeh are DIFFERENT.
They are NOT THE SAME THING.

-- Tahajjud is mentioned in The Quran: "Stand up at night except a little."
Taraweeh being a Sunnah was established through the hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) who said:
"I have made its standing a Sunnah for you."

-- Tahajjud was ordained by Allah SWT in Makkah as a compulsory fard prayer but after 1 year, it was made optional /nafl.

-- Taraweeh was prescribed in Madina by the Prophet salallahu alayhiwasallam as a Sunnah. It was only done for 3 nights because the Prophet (saw) feared it might become a compulsory fard prayer. This proves it is something NEW unlike Tahajjud which was already being performed, individually, EVERY NIGHT - in Ramadhan AND OTHER MONTHS and it's obligation had already been abolished.

-- Everyone agrees that the number of Rakaats of Tahajjud have been transmitted by Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), the maximum being 13 including Witr and the minimum being 7 including Witr.
For Taraweeh, the Sahaba agreed upon 20 rakahs and this is the Sunnah as established by all 4 Schools of Fiqh /madhabs.

-- It is mentioned in the reliable books of the Hambali Madhab, Muqna: "Taraweeh is 20 Rakaats which a person performs in Ramadhaan in Jamaat. He will read Witr after it in Jamaat. However if he reads Tahajjud then he will make Witr after it."
Meaning that Tahajjud can be performed AFTER Taraweeh which is what happens in both Makkah & Madinah today.

-- Tahajjud is generally performed after sleeping while Taraweeh is performed after isha.

-- All hadith books differentiate between these two prayers by placing them in different chapter headings:
"salat ulLayl" = Tahajjud
"qiyam ramadhan" = Taraweeh

-- All Schools of Fiqh /madhabs agree that Tahajjud & Taraweeh are DIFFERENT prayers with different names.

-- Only Salafis & Shia & Qadianis believe that Tahajjud & Taraweeh are the same thing!!!

THEREFORE, don't believe anything these Sects say until verified by real traditional classically trained Scholars.

Taraweeh prayer is reciting the Qur'an as fast as you can to an audience where 80% globally cannot understand it, in the hope that Allah will reward you for reciting His Teachings to humanity back to Him!

They scholar is from ahle-hadis jamat he ia not sunni muslim these ahle-hadis people are introducing new thing in islam and creating inu sense amoung people hazrat bibi ayesha raziallahu anu never told prophet used to pray 8 rakat in taravee, Taravee is sunatull moukhida namaz it means Evqualant to Farz namaz, Taravee is taravee which is prayed after isha 20 rakha and Tahajut is Tahajut which is prayed at mid night after 12 am in night with different Rakha whether it may be ( 4 rakh, 8 rakh or 12 rakh ) what ever u like . for Tahajut u have to sleep atleast little bit for night then only u can offer that Tahajut namaz u cannot offer its with sleeping a part of night . But about taravee its compulsory u have to pray 20 Rakat for whole months from the begining of 1st moon night to last moon night

*There is no any Ritual in Islam, so, nor any Taraweeh Rituals.* We cannot know, what Prophet and 4 Caliphs were doing in Person because they left behind only written Quran. So, clearly, they followed only Quran 6:114, and in Quran, Salat is not Rituals لَّيْسَ ٱلْبِرَّ أَن تُوَلُّوا۟ وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ
