Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 vs 5 | What's New?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is Sammy's latest 2024 full-sized foldable phone, and this hands-on review and comparison shows what's upgraded vs the Fold 5. A lot of the hardware including Samsung's camera tech remains the same for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, so will fresh AI features be enough to justify that high UK price?

The Unpacked launch has just finished and anyone expecting major evolution from the Samsung Z Fold 6 will likely be disappointed. This is a gentle upgrade vs the 5, sticking with the same optics and battery tech. This Galaxy foldable phone updates some of the specs to 2024 flagship levels, including a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

You've got a selection of new AI tools stuffed onto the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, including more creative features, translation tools and circle to search updates. The Z Fold 6 also offers small improvements to the durability, cover screen and other bits.

Samsung is a seriously complacent company. 4400Mah battery on a thing the size of this? 25w wired charging? At that price? They are leaning heavily on a very loyal customer base for their most pricey phones. Which might not be that loyal any longer, if they keep churning out piss-taking flagships like this.

UK gets £390 off a Fold 4 and US gets $1, 000. Europe once again subsidising the US market, because Samsung can't get a foothold there. Couple that with the worst iterative upgrades and Samsung can do one.

Ways they can still improve it:
New cameras
Qi2 support
Faster wired and wireless charging
Charging brick in the box (its a $1900 phone ffs)
Built in silo for the s pen
S pen support for the cover screen
Programmable hardware button
Bigger battery
Wider aspect ratio when open (closer to 16/9 for video)
Dex support without external display (samsung tablets can do this)

Im okay with the price hike if they even implemented SOME of these things...

I think a better question, is it worth upgrading from the likes of the 23ultra or fold 4? .
We've come to understand the differences between single jumps in generations of any phone are not worth the upgrade so what about the gen before that?

I got the Z Fold 5 instead of the 6 because I expected the improvements to be minimal and I was able to get a Z Fold 5 for a good price since the 6 is coming out. I like it for the most part. The large screen is really annoying while viewing it outside during the day, though. It has a terrible glare and the crease is very noticeable. Actually, I don't like using it when I'm outdoors, at all. That was a big let down. Indoord, it's fine, though.

They literally left the door open for google to dominate the foldable market this year if they don’t fumble the pixel fold 2
