This is a video about Corbin Burnes, but it's also a video about pitching in the data age. We'll review concepts like spin rate, spin axis, spin efficiency, active spin, Magnus effect, and gyro spin, and how they relate to the Corbin Burnes Brewers. The Milwaukee Brewers are lucky to have a Corbin Burnes Cy Young winner on their team, that's for sure!

This episode of Baseball Bits, a Foolish Baseball production, will also focus on Corbin Burnes cutter. Is this the best fastball in MLB right now? It's pretty darn effective. We'll compare it to other cutter offerings from pitchers like Kenley Jansen and Mariano Rivera. Justin Verlander and Mookie Betts also make cameos in this one.

Wish Corbin Burnes was a physics problem when I was in high school; would have made my physics class much more exciting

Was having just a miserable day, godawful, but I take my lunch break and see there's a new baseball bits. Suddenly things aren't so bad. Thanks for making these videos. They remind me why I'm a fan of this stupid sport that none of my friends follow.

There's one thing that isn't mentioned here- his mechanics. He basically did a Giolito- changed to a short arm coming out of the glove which improved his timing and overall delivery. Upped his velocity to hit 97/98. Look at 12:04 (short, compact delivery/post-pandemic Burnes) and then 12:15 (long, full open delivery/pre-pandemic Burnes).

When I originally got into baseball, I knew jackshit about anything. Barely understood the rules and the game itself. Then I discovered your channel and got hooked. That was over a year ago. Due to your vids, I not only managed to get a deeper understanding of a sport I never really cared for but also a lot of knowledge about the most interesting things, ranging from noteworthy yet weird players, to absolut legendary moments throughout the hiestory of the sport.
I guess what I am trying to say is that you are doing a great job. I really like your videos (since the comedy is always great, you make things that are hard to grasp for beginners like the advanced metrics easy to grasp) and I appreciate the effort that you put into them.
Keep making awesome content. And thank you for brightening my days with your amazing entertainment.

As a Brewers fan, I vividly remember Burnes getting called back up late in 2019, and some people pointed out he threw a cutter now, and I just remember someone on twitter saying something along the lines of "Let's not overreact just because he has a cutter now, he still sucks" or something about how it wasn't a big difference lmaooo look at him now

This is one of the things i love about baseball. An upcoming rookie who at first struggles a lot, finds stardom with minor tweaks here and there. Can't really think any other sport where that can happen

I just find it so interesting how a pitcher with a freaking 8.8 era can come back and be one of the best pitchers in the league just 2 years later. Like how can you even fix that much in not that much time? How is that even possible

Fuck yeah, new Baseball Bits, let's go

Sounds like a new soundtrack too

In cricket, spinners actually use sidespin and topspin in tandem quite often, the sidespin for lateral movement and topspin to generate extra bounce from the pitch

You make the best baseball content on YouTube, man. You’ve single handedly increased my knowledge of baseball and advanced analytics, and also perpetuated my love for the game! Cheers

Need a Baseball Bits video comparing Chipper Jones to other standout switch hitters in history.

I don't know how people can say that analytics are killing baseball when it can literally give you quantifiable ways to see someone's potential. Analytics are creating jobs for players who are picked up by organizations smart enough to look at these numbers.

I wonder how many regulars here don’t like baseball but the content is just so well done it’s impossible to miss. That’s where I’m at. Keep it up Bailey! Very good for the sport

Considering how much physics scares me in school, I can only imagine Bailey has made it fun

Discovered these videos a couple weeks ago while quarantining with Covid. As someone who can only be considered a casual baseball fan on his best day, these videos are great. Keep up the good work.

You are a HUGE reason behind me following baseball more closely this season! Your videos are so entertaining and informative, keep up the great work, Bailey!!!

My favorite as well with him is that because he induces so much weak contact, he generally stays more in the zone than most pitchers. Because he stays more in the zone than most pitchers, he forces batters to swing at whatever nonsense he's feeding them because they're pretty certain it'll be strikes. He's like... Broken and unfair and it's hilarious and beautiful
