Thank you for very nice video with crisp explanation. What key takeaway points from this video is -
Predictive - well defined scope, up front planning, allow minimum changes

Iterative - Prototype, refinement cycles, make it perfect, one final delivery at the end - making product perfect where scope is complex and changing.

Incremental - time boxed iteration (sprints), go feature live after each increment, deliver the value customer in each increment - speed of delivery is goal

Agile - when complex and changing requirements which needs to implemented as perfect also with speedy delivery then we use mix of iterative and incremental which is agile.
In this two types -
1)time based agile (sprint time with specific fixed time for all iteration) - Scrum
2) Flow based agile (no fixed timeboxing, take next task from backlog once you complete current) - Here how many tasks you can work at a time is controlled (WIP- work in progress)

Hybrid - Mix of predictive + Agile - Here project decides which activities needs to be done in predictive which to be done agile. This life cycle will be accepted by the team how are moving newly from predictive to agile.

Thank you so much Varun!!! I just passed my PMP exam yesterday on my first try yesterday receiving all three Above Target! Your videos on YouTube and website were the main source of my study material and I wouldn’t have passed without your elimination technique and video on Agile. You’re doing such a great job and thank you for all that you do!!

Thanks for the video, Varun!!
I believe the answer to the 2nd question would be Iterative, not incremental. Because in incremental we don't do sprints or reviews. Also, all the activities are performed only once per iteration. In Incremental, we keep on updating until perfection. So, B is my answer.

I have read over this topic so many times but I think I finally get it. Thank you for using the same project type for each of the 3 life cycles because that really drove home the point.

Varun, I passed my PMP Dec 5 2021 and you are a huge part to that. You know your stuff and can also teach it really well. You were recommended by one of my friends who bought your course and he and I both are in your debt. It's not enough to know Project Management, but the value you provide which I appreciated is you made us understand PMI's perspective on Project Management and THAT is key! again, thank you sir, you rock!!

Hi Varun, for the second question on development life cycle, I chose Iterative (B) because I felt the question stated "making it completely functional" which signifies final delivery once at the end and I know iterative produces one single deliverable at the end.

Q1. The answer is B. Agile planning is progressive. Waterfall planning is mainly done upfront and that eliminates A& D. As agile planning is not done upfront but progressively, that eliminates also A. And B is the correct answer though the just in time concept was not taught in the notes....

Q.2. The answer is C. The question makes it clear that more functionality will be added in each iteration but that after every iteration you have a finished product.... I referred to the example you gave in the lesson😊

Hi Varun, in the sample question(at 23.45 mins) where the option is to select the right project lifecycle, the answer should be Iterative Lifecycle. If you refer to your earlier explanation (at 10.15 mins) in Incremental Lifecycle the customer accepts the product piece by piece (or floor by floor) not at the final point. This question the customer is accepting the product as one final deliverable. Pls throw some light..
