Having no hot water coming from your combi boiler can be a huge inconvenience for you, especially when trying to get a shower or using a radiator. Getting to know what the issue is and how to fix it is extremely helpful.

Causes of no hot water

Some of the main reasons behind having no hot water are pilot light problems, thermostat issues, low boiler pressure and frozen pipes. A number of these could be due to having an old, inefficient boiler where breakdowns are a regular occurrence or perhaps a lack of preparation for the Winter.
No matter what the problem is, it's important that check your utilities to make sure you have a supply of gas and electricity, and also inspect the boiler to see if the issues are visible.

Seek expert advice

Getting a Gas-Safe registered engineer to come out to your property and service your faulty boiler is likely the easiest fix as well as the safest thing to do. Your engineer can check out your boiler, see what's wrong with it and repair it to get it back up and running, allowing you to have hot water again.

Do I need a new boiler replacement?

If there are continuous issues with your boiler being able to provide hot water to your home, it might be time to purchase a new boiler replacement. Doing so will minimise the problems you will have with your hot water and likely save you money as your boiler won't have to overwork to meet your heating demands.
Boiler Central have excellent deals on new boiler replacements with installation included, be sure to get a quote if looking for a new boiler.

... "If you're looking to fix your boiler, you've come to the right place. Over two hundred years ago Wellington defeated Napoleon at the battle of Waterloo, after the battle Wellington was desperate for a hot shower heated by a combi boiler. Sadly the combi boiler wasn't to be invented for another 175 years. If it had been though, he might have had issues with the hot water side of the system, in that case he would have come to the right place to find out what's wrong with his combi boiler.."

I'm not a heating engineer and even I know this is technically wrong. A failed diverter valve won't result in BOTH no heating AND no hot water; the design will usually prioritise heating over hot water, but you won't lose both. Who are the 717 idiots whose lives are so empty that they actually subscribed to this fatuous and tiresome sales pitch?
