The UK has accused China of breaking the 1984 Sino-British joint declaration by imposing a new national security law on Hong Kong.

Hong Kong's last governor called the new legislation 'Orwellian' as dozens were arrested in protests against the law.

If they violated the contract, does that not render it void and return it to the UK?

How many people died in British India?
The total human population of British India was around 331 Million. At least 55.1 million people may have died in famines during British rule, which was around 17% of entire population.

Hong Kong should return back under British rule due to the contract being broken! Then we can give them their independence under british protection and that of our allies.

Britain was importing and selling large quantities of opium to China because it was very profitable and helped balance Britain's trade deficit resulting from its importation of Chinese goods, such as tea. Britain forced peasants in its colony, India, to grow opium poppies so it could sell the opium in China, although the importation and sale of opium were illegal under Chinese law. When a Chinese government official seized British opium cargo in 1841, Britain declared what became known as the first Opium War. Britain won the war and was in a position to impose on the vanquished Chinese a one-sided treaty with onerous treaty obligations

From 1978 to 2010 Japan had the second biggest economy China only since has held second place, I think within the UK's interests Japan should with a economy 2/3 the size of the US come first.

We never should have given up a population of democracy and freedom loving people to a totalitarian communist country. Labour government was too SOFT to do anything about it.
