So I researched a little bit about the new illness. The little overlay the causes your vision to become blurry might be a sign of being poisoned by Mercury, as it can deteriorate your nervous system, impair hearing speech, vision and gait, can cause involuntary muscle movements (Not sure if that is similar to the effects of Kuru), it can corrode the skin and mucous membranes, and can cause chewing and swallowing to become difficult.

However, the most common elements/ chemicals that can be found in Volcanic Ash are iron, manganese, and aluminum. This makes me believe that the exposure of Mercury in the snow might have been caused by volcanic gases contaminating the snow, or because of pyroclastic deposits.

I will continue to research about this and I will further let you guys know about my hypothesis’.

IDEA:
near Vulcan area hot springs would release Sulphur Dioxide coming out colorless and with direction of the wind from the spring making player coughing and coming short of breath (like u running out of air in gas mask filter)
Short stick and Bandana would create small flag to help you traverse harsh area

I always welcome new health mechanics as long as it is balanced with sufficient access to the medicines, etc. that can counter these effects. I like the new bottle for Sakhal that allows you to consume snow/water without getting sick. And as I've always wanted to play Namalsk, I like how Sakhal shares some of its characteristics that console players can now enjoy.

Now, I'm jumping on DayZ to play a little. Thanks for the new information.

I hope freezing certain foods will make the food last longer before rotting itd make sense freezing foods is used to preserve food

Would be cool to see iodine capable of purifying water. Of course it wouldn't treat the heavy metal issue but would be a nice alternative to chlorine tabs. Cheers on the update info!

Bought this game years ago and only played a few times. I felt like I wasted my money but I guess I’ll give it another try
