Those washers are called Nord-lock washers, they are heavily used in industrial fabrication, we use them on refinery equipment with high heat cycling and they hold up great.

Definition: vehicle impacts ground really hard from a vertical drop on anything but it's wheels, most notably, the nose or tail.

NordLock washers are fantastic ! The pair of washers try to rotate against each other but their cam ramps separate the washers and apply additional tension to the fastener assenbly. This dramaticallre reduces the chance of loosening. Bin them after 2 or 3 removals.
Loctite will fail at engine temperatures....
