The problem is....we revolve our lives around our careers. That is not a life.

Nobody on their deathbed has ever said they regret not spending more time at work.

My single Filipina mom did that for 3 of us and still cooked incredible meals and took us to sports. She often looked barely awake. She did it for us without complaining. There is no one that I respect more. She’s my hero.

My mom was a homemaker and we didn’t have much but I never knew this growing up. We were happy and loved and supported each other

You may love your job, but it will never love you back, as everyone’s replaceable..

I learned this at 36 - gave up my career to raise my family. I loved it! I did go back to work but my Husband told me to retire. Very happy and I appreciate my husband for acknowledging that this was best for our relationship.

Put your finger in a glass of water: that is you in your organization. Take your finger out: see the hole you left? Never give your life to the organization. Jordan is spot on!

I worked my life away, I don't owe anyone but it made me old before my time. Missed out on most of the kids stuff because I thought work was more important. Cats in the cradle now.

I'm single, in my 50's and have been working overtime most of my life in a factory on 2nd shift. I hit 50 and realized I wanted time to do other things. This is the first year I've had NO overtime in a month. I've gotten to go camping with my family, dinners out, and family get together on an impulse. I've been missing out all these years, and am loving having just 40 hrs.

I’m 40 years old and now choosing to work 12 hr days 6 days a week to help make ends meet for my family. Kids are 18, 15 and 13. I was so lucky to be able to stay home as long as I did to raise them. My stroke of luck from the unfortunate pandemic enabled me to work from home and now I can do all my OT right here and I get to see my kids all day everyday. There’s no better balance than this.

What people also need to understand is that men would like to have time to see their family too. Far many men go to work and do everything for their family and then realize they have missed a huge portion of seeing their kids growing up.

Kids or no kids, NO ONE should ever, ever, EVER work 18 hours a day. That's 100% inhumane.

We moved to another state, in order for my husband to have a daily relationship with our children. He was able to take them to school or pick them up whenever he/they wanted. Fifteen years later, our relationship with our young adults is the BEST!

My biggest regret is working instead of staying home with my children. It breaks my heart.

As a plow driver of over 20 years. I can promise you… I don’t get up thinking “YES 24-48 hours of plowing!!!!” It’s just something that has to get done and you work until the work is done. It just is what it is.

"I've met men with no money and lots of free time, and I've men with no free time and lots of money. It occurs to me that their misery seems roughly equal, and that wealth is defined by how artfully one can blend these two fundamental sources of joy in balance."- Andrew Carnegie

I raised my kids and haven’t regretted it for one second. No amount of money or job can ever take the place of time spent with your children. I have a wonderful relationship with them now as adults and they are amazing people
