This was my first espresso maker ever. I’ve pulled over a thousand shots with this. Grind size perfection and preheating is crucial. Worth its weight in gold once you dial it in

The Picopresso fills such a niche market... but I love it. My friends got me one as a birthday gift. I repeatedly watched your older vid along with other vids on it in anticipation.

The hype was deserved. Of course, you need a great grinder and the necessary espresso skills (WDT, tamping, and dialing in) to pull it off. It really is for the enthusiast, which is why I can't recommend it to everyone.

The main benefit of the Picopresso is for sure the size. I can easily just store it in my cramped cabinet with my other coffee gear. It is my gateway to getting my dream espresso machine, a Decent DE1 in the future.

The cons of the Picopresso is just the slower workflow overall (out of the box). Given my set up, back to back shots are a lot of WORK. I have trouble with the single needle WDT tool, but the fact you can store it IN the machine is just so convenient. A second basket would possibly help with back to back shots. I think I read they use a 51mm or 51.5mm basket.

Either way, it serves my purpose of testing different beans as espresso shots. I have a lot of success with an intial 16g dose with an output of 32g or longer depending on bean (I love light roasts). I also pump with the piston outwards (using my middle and ring fingers) for stability.

I would love an update vid on your thoughts, Kyle. Is this your own personal Picopresso?

I have been using the picopresso for more than a year now and absolutely love it. One trick is to preheat the shower screen in the same tank when you pre heat the chamber. I also use a 3d printed WDT by jkim makes. Adding this to my workflow made a ton of difference.
