The objective of this lecture is to challenge cisgenderism within Michigan's campus community, while fostering a culture of allyship towards trans and nonbinary faculty, staff, and students. To achieve this goal, we begin by presenting national and institutional data, which serve as a call to action for advocating for a more gender-inclusive campus. We will then explore English terms and concepts that promote a shared understanding of sex and gender vocabulary. Finally, we examine real-life case studies, allowing participants to develop practical strategies for promoting a trans- and nonbinary-inclusive campus culture.

Speakers:
Nick Henriksen - Associate Chair, University of Michigan Romance Languages and Literatures; Associate Professor, Spanish Linguistics;

Sara Pozzi - Professor, Nuclear Engineering & Radiological Sciences; College of Engineering, University of Michigan

Don't live in the US, so don't understand the whole pronoun subject. Can someone explain why some people use a plural pronoun for a singular subject? That's not how language works. There are thousands of words available, why use one that causes such confusion?

Also why is this video in an engineering channel?
