We're going over the latest in how SKA St. Petersburg is using Montreal Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov, and how he'd recently gotten benched.

The best thing that happened for Michkov was to be put on loan to Sochi even though he did not want to go back there due to past personal family reasons bc if he stuck with SKA the bench is where he woulda been most of the time...

you guys know nothing about SKA. SKA coach is the son of a billionaire, who imagines himself to be a great hockey coach and, thanks to his dad’s money, can afford such a toy as a hockey club. All his conferences are full of cringe, SKA is the most hated team, because they take all the talented players and always break the rules of the league, and their coach Boris Rotenberg is the most hated person in the entire history of Russian hockey

I say wait it out another month and if the trend continues buy out his contract. We can not have Demidov's development hindered.

Pay SKA and stick Demidov in Laval for 10 games and see what he does. Could be a good replacement for Laine. Management are disappointed they lost Laine, could happen. Just sayin. Cheers

How much is that contract worth to get Demidov to Montreal now?

The options 1# and #2 seem very similar.
If I understood correctly:
Option #1: Just sit and wait.
Option #2, if he plays 9-10 mins, so be it (basically, we can tolerate low ice time, as long as he plays a bit)
Option #3 Pay what they ask for the contract.


Realistically, I think that the year will complete under the option #1. Even if he is player under 2 minutes every game, I think that it will be the most difficult for Ivan Demidov psychologically, but at the same time, the team will be penalised because they will have greater odds of losing games. His goal would be to keep working as much as he can and be hungry on the ice so that we can produce as much in low time (easily said, super hard to do).


The other options I can see:
Option #3 (delayed) be patient until new-year, and then review and request for 50% lower price of total contract price.
Option #4 Discuss with lawyers from Russia what other options are available. Can Ivan Demidov terminate his contract? What will be the fee? :)
Option #5 Switch teams or even league in KHL (something like a loan) a team that would offer him more icetime.. but I dont know how good that is either...

Demidov has been playing little to no 3rd periods all season with SKA. Hilites clearly show the kid is driving his line and producing. Frustrating to see him playing so little mins

interesting, it seems with each passing day, habs management will regret not drafting michkov. HABS fans better pray that Demidov will be doing what Michkov has done thus far in the NHL or this will go down as the biggest"What If" in canadians draft history...

That tweet (force me to name it otherwise, its a dictionary word) has a kind of strange Russophobic ending. Hockey fans in North America are likely the North Americans who see/hear Russians/Belorussians and even a few Ukrainians (Andrei Kovalenko's son is gonna be a full time NHL player someday), we're the least likely bunch to be racist towards eastern slavs....KHL used to have a couple teams there, even in Finland too before the stupidity that started in february 2022, regular guys from those countries are just that, even if they are a bit more than regular when it comes to pro athletes.Even then those with other-side-of-Urals traits who look a bit asian, are more rare, but that is not even the point. The team that used to be CSKA Moscow in the Soviet heyday is....whatever the guy said, almost calling a simple hockey team a nefarious organization.
