"In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own.”

I'm so glad that there is no god, no christ, and no hell. Let's celebrate these truths.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on Alex O'Connors analysis. I've looked to Hitchens, and mores Sam Harris, as both mentors and bastions of reason for many years. Alex O'Connor is new to me, but I've been consistently impressed by the material he puts out. A fresh perspective from a very intelligent and educated atheist.

I have never had a problem with peoples disbelief, especially considering the examples of "Christianity" thrown up these days. But most people are kind of stupid about it. All to often while I find the lack of faith reasonable, I find their reasons anything but. Both believers and unbelievers make the mistake of anthropomorphizing God. If he exists than it is clear that he isn't human, in fact he cannot even have "being" in the way we have being, rather he would be the originator of being, at least according to the definition given. So the problem is if your going to say he's not real than fine, but if you say he's not real than you go on to say he's like a dictator (ie. human)suddenly you have reinvented him as something he is not in order to heap more disdain. That is not intellectually honest. This is by no means some proof of God. Personally I think the whole prove/disprove God movement is a bit overwrought. Science has nothing to say about this, btw or at least not until one can create a replicable experiment that can detect or rule out a transcendent being.
