US east coast hit by extreme winter weather: Major storm batters creates havoc across 22 states

A major storm is battering the eastern half of the United States, with sub-zero temperatures, high winds and major snow falls wreaking havoc across 22 states. At least nine deaths have been blamed on the extreme conditions. A number of coastal neighbourhoods in Boston have flooded whilst in New York City the temperature dropped to minus ten degrees Celsius as thousands of flights were delayed or cancelled and schools were closed.
