How to identify hydrocarbons with single or double bonds using Bromine Water.

We have Hexane, Oct-1-ene and cyclohexane placed into test tubes, all are clear liquids. Bromine water is orange when its in an aqueous solution. The bromine water is added to each hydrocarbon.

When mixed with a double bond hydrocarbon the solution goes clear. The bromine is still orange when introduced to a single bond hydrocarbon. Making a very clear test. Can you tell which one is the hydrocarbon?
