It's crazy that I held this one off for so long. Over 550 GameCube titles completed and less than 100 to go, I figured that despite this game being a glitchfest and an annoying one to longplay, it was still likely going to be better than most of the other games I have left available. All in all, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I never played Spyro before aside from being over at a friends house when I was like 8. All the levels are colourful and fun, the enemies are unique to each stage and collecting the gems feels satisfying as the levels are quite linear.

Common complaint about this game is that it's glitchy, which is true. For example, around 3:48:50 you can see a shadow on the ground. There's supposed to be a gem here. A bit further there's a vase that I broke previously, but respawned. Generally vases which you collected gems from don't respawn. When I tried breaking the vase, no gems came out.. but apparently it spawned the gem on the shadow from earlier back. It took me well over an hour to find this gem.

Truth is, collecting a bunch of stuff in platformers is fun for casual gaming but it can be hell for recording longplays. Since the camera is running, I don't have hours to scout around stages and find any gems that I have missed. Not a single level was completed succesfully with all gems collected in the first run unfortunately and I had to waste a few minutes in each level to get a few of the missed gems. I'm happy with how the longplay turned out, as it's much quicker than some of the other footage online, but the gem part still bothers me. I can't prove it, but I wouldn't be surprised if some gems just didn't spawn or didn't register due to the glitchy nature of this game and it attributed to me not being able to successfully collect all gems in the first run.

Lastly, regarding the gems, I killed Ripto before completing the game. Whilst it takes 100% Completion to battle the "ultimate" Ripto with 3 phases, you can already battle him much sooner too and by doing so you get the gem finder ability. It's not as cool as it sounds, as it's literally just your dragonfly pointing in the direction of the gem...Whilst it's not a necessary thing to do, the Gem Finder did really help me save myself from some frustration after spending over an hour in Honey Marsh looking for that final gem. I could've cut the battle out of the video as it's not very necessary content, but I felt like it was worth keeping in just for those who have trouble finding the last few gems in some stages. It's only a few minutes anyway.

I know this game gets a lot of hate, but to me I really liked the game and do consider it a true sequel to the original trilogy. Every time I think of this game the first thing that comes to mind is the level Crop Circle Country.

I can still remember playing this game back in the summer of 2007. I thought it was interesting and this game was the first Spyro game I ever played with the classic Spyro the dragon style of gameplay.

It’s pretty sad to see what this game turned out to be. I’m not shaming the developers since I know they were doing their best with this game. It’s universal’s fault for forcing the developers to release the game in time for the holidays. As a Spyro fan myself, I can agree with a lot of people that this is definitely the worst game in the franchise and it’s definitely the game that negatively affected Spyro as a franchise. Hopefully a new Spyro 4 won’t be botched up like ETD. Because I want the developers to do their best on it.

Not gonna lie, I thought I was going to hate the game because of how hard the challenges were as a kid and thought about throwing the game out, but somehow, after a few years later, I finally managed to complete the game 100%. So this game gave me a lot of memories. Some bad, but most of them good, because in the end, I've had fun playing this game. If a remake of this was made like reignited Trilogy, without any bugs, glitches or rushed development, then I'd play it, again.

It’s so funny this was posted today because I’ve been on a Spyro bender for a few days. I know this game is a bit iffy but it’s so nostalgic to me:)

The animation in this game reminds me if this was an early animated film from Illumination

Ay god, had this game not been HORRENDOUSLY RUSHED, I’m sure this game could’ve turned out SICK AF.💔💔💔

No fault towards the devs, though. They were pretty much forced to rush development, unfortunately. >__>)🌀

Although, despite all the glitches, and flaws,
I still low-key hold this game close to my heart. My dumb, nostalgic-ass still loves it to an extent. It holds a lotta good times and memories. :’DD
