This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. A global research leader on infectious diseases such ebola, Professor Tom Solomon helps us understand these diseases, how they're spread and suggestions on how to react.

Infectious diseases are the planet’s number one killer and Liverpool is leading the way to contain and combat these savage health risks. Tom Solomon is very much on the front lines of this growing battle. He is Professor of Neurology at the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust and Director of the University of Liverpool’s Institute of Infection and Global Health. When not seeing patients, teaching or doing research, he is raising public awareness about encephalitis and other brain infections as the Guinness World Record winning @RunningMadProf.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
