Alternatively, you can shuffle a deck of Yugioh cards and draw each card if you want to save money. Just don't complain when your players have to deal with Exodia leading to a TPK.

I actually did basically the same thing where I used monster cards to create enemies, a series of similar cards can be an organization like the harpy cards. Magic and trap cards and be parts of a plot point or can be magic weapons

This could work with Pokémon cards, stadiums; location supporters; npc, item; no explanation: pokemon would be the enemies, but what about energies?

I actually worked out the rules for full on Yu-Gi-Oh dnd. The whole thing is saved to my laptop and waiting for SOMEONE to want to run it. I DM far too much to want to run another game for a while.

Use a real deck like a Deck of Many Things. You draw a card, that is the puzzle/monster/trap you must overcome.

I love this idea for a campaign it's incredible how much fun this would be I'm definitely going to do this any field spells could be the current location of the party so whatever field spell you pull first is where the campaign starts and if you draw all five pieces of exodia one of the party is obliterated like Yu-Gi-Oh episode 1 when yugi used exodia to win against kaiba
