Senior NATO official issues warning over Russia’s hybrid warfare style

NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General James Appathurai has issued a warning about Russia’s increasing hybrid warfare tactics amid fears of an escalation in its war with Ukraine.

NATO announced it would step up patrols in the Baltic Sea after a ship linked to Russia was suspected of damaging an undersea cable between Finland and Estonia.

“We are in a little bit of a boiling frog situation. We are seeing now what would have been utterly unacceptable five years ago,” Mr Appathurai said.

“But we have kind of gotten used to it a little bit more, a little bit more, a little bit more and that is very dangerous.”
