One of my students used this video of yours to complement their final exam. I just watched it. It's good. I'm glad my student found your work, liked it, and shared it with me. Thank you for helping to make Papa cool again.

What makes Hemingway my favorite, is how much depth is within each sentence. Every word is placed, and he wrote about this ; (parenthetically) each day I begin by reading what I read the day before when I start. Going back several pages further each day and correcting my work, and when there’s too many pages to read all of it, I still read it all at least once a week. Otherwise the story doesn’t stay connected, and by doing this, I make sure it does “”
Unbelievable work ethic and literary talent, I never get tired of Hemingway.
Thankyou for discussing his work, the Undefeated ~

Great stuff, dude. No one was better than Hemingway. Whether they know it or not, everyone after Hemingway was influenced by him.

Mr James wore a shirt. He commanded respect. I closed my eyes, threading his words on a single string, until they became thought. Rumors that tattoos covered his body faded. I listened. Useful ideas filled my mind. (Parataxitic.) . . . (Mr.James, just as your lucid, cogent discourse deserves rapt attention from us, it will faster reach more ears and minds--even publication--without your personal canvas and distracting artwork. They, like the precious phrase we cannot bear to discard, beg to be tossed. )

Bro this is so insightful, especially being a huge Hemingway fan.

This was really helpful, the way you explain everything so bluntly is refreshing.

I love Hemingway. Beginning with Islands In The Stream which I get more and more from each time I read it. I no longer breeze over anything I don’t understand; foreign phrases or items that I’m unaware of, once researched, give life to the story. Your teaching is some next level info and I’m stoked to have found your channel. Cheers

Cool, this is exactly what I was looking for. Somebody describing the merits of Hemingway’s use of language

I'm just not such a rhetorical man to enjoy seeing you without a shirt.

Ernest Hemingway's style inspires me. It is also the hardest to master. Each words, each placement give the story a different feeling. A writer has to know the direction of the story to choose the right words.
The focus on action, dialogue and present reminds me of comic book and cinema. It's great to imitate.
The part about the narrator helping his friends carrying up his heavy baggage always will be my go-to example of minimalist writing.
It's the shame how we don't have many minimalist literature in France but the closest is Felix Fénéon and his three sentences novel.

The more I learn about language, the more I believe the minimalist was created to counter the sheer amount of synonyms.
I understand how this style remove the personality that help carry the plot element or theme and shouldn't be abuse.

Subscribed. I'll watch the rest shortly. I never knew he styled the writing like that, even though I've read a few of his.

This is not bad. Awesome actually. Parataxis though, often repeats the subject over and over again. Manuel. He. He . He.

Dude, I'm actually looking at getting that same portrait of Hemingway on my arm. He will be accompanied by Bukowski rather than Thompson in mine though.
