Just been playing Forza 5 at 1080p med/high mix hitting roughly 50 to 60 fps on my Ally. These have to have massive updates out of the box.

this video is misleading. everyone touches that ally, they clearly messed with the settings. on top of that you have to download updates.

man the vents are being covered making that amd chip thermal throttle. that's probably what's happening. btw i have both the deck and the ally. i think i'm gonna keep the deck for now. gonna wait until the next few fixes and updates to see if ill keep the ally.

Also keep in mind I heard that asus released a bios update that caused performance degrading on gaming and asus knows about issues and are working on a fix. So if this unit was tested after the bios update then it could of gotten that and that the blockage of heat and + maybe charger they used is not official one. Some times stores use special ones to alarm the device so if you unplug it the alarm goes.

This thing isn’t for people who aren’t tech savvy. It requires a lot of tweaking because it comes loaded with alot of bloatware from Windows 11. First thing you need to do is update everything then clean out all the backround apps that hinder performance like MS teams, McCafee, MS office and etc…I did that and my frame rate massively improved. I run fortnite on med/high setting and get 50/60 fps on 1080p.

When I played this demo it ran flawlessly. It would have convinced me to buy an Ally if I gamed more than a couple times a month.

This video is old. I bought a newer model and its the best purchase I have made in awhile. So glad I didnt go with the steam deck! ❤

My first units controls stopped working after 30minutes. Nothing fixed it, even a reset.

Second unit - a piece of black tape from inside the ally (im assuming) was stuck slightly on the right joystick, causing it to stick. So i opened it up and removed the tape, cleaned the joystick and boom fixed my problem.

Given 2 issues within 3 says i would say we are in for a long beta test as first gen user's.

The settings must have been set up poorly. Not not mention the vents being covered will screw it up. Ive got one and its an amazing system. Can get a solid 60fps easily.

No issues on my Ally, game runs smooth. Keep in mind that people may also have altered the settings on the display model also as jedvaulten02 stated they are blocking the heat exhaust vents causing the unit to overheat.

I just literally went yesterday and was on Forza 4 and it had stutters in the store. I’m not sure about but I think it may be one of the power settings needing to be changed

I’ve returned the ally too. Not only for the lag, the tiny screen is a bad point, I recommend the lenovo legion go.

Bro seriously the best buy units have been trashed. I have an Ally I getting over 60fps on Mafia 3 at high settings that's a open-world game.

Probably just that display unit . Played one at a local Best Buy at 1080p high setting and averaged 65-70 fps

That’s a store model that’s been touched 3000 times and if someone put it on turbo mode and it’s been on all day that’s what it’s gonna look like lol.I just got a Z1 extreme Ally and I play forza and the Witcher 3 and make beats and more.I make music and been using mac’s for 18 years so this thing was new for me.A 2 day learning curve and I’m still learning lol.Its a PC just not a handheld gaming device so don’t get it confused.Its a gaming computer just in a handheld.The z1 is powerful and i recommend this thing.I got the accessories already and a long warranty with a manufacturer warranty so I’m good regardless.I don’t comment much on stuff but I couldn’t let this just be lol.. don’t let this video make a decision for you trust me.I play forza and more and it’s amazing and look amazing no matter which mode you put it in.Theres a learning curve for it but it’s new technology..It’s not a steam deck where it’s mainly a gaming device and can have windows installed if you’d like, This is strictly a PC with a main App that is for gaming and gaming settings.It has Apps such and COG, Steam, Xbox and many more.. it’s really cool and Ima make a review soon and start something
