Welcome back, today we are discussing if it's fair to compare the PSVR 2 to the Quest 2. With the PlayStation VR 2 coming in the near future people are understandably excited for new VR games but when I jokingly compared Quest 2 VR games VS PSVR 2 games a lot of people were triggered so now it's time to discuss this topic.

I really dont care about quest and pcvr users and how they feel about this. Ever since the psvr2 was announced many of them have tried to be party poopers. O it has a cable. O no pc support, dead on arrival etc. Dont dish it out if you cant take it. Or be nice and let people enjoy their device.

For me, comfort is at the top of the list, so I'm thrilled to finally upgrade from the Oculus Rift S to the PSVR2 after finding so many other headsets uncomfortable. I suspect many feel the same.

I get it... but the PSVR 2 is better. Cause I'm not comparing it to the quest or PCVR. I'm comparing it to the original PSVR. Usually a new headset pushes VR forward to some capacity. Seems the PSVR 2 is pushing it forward in multiple ways, so it's a very exciting time

that short was hilarious and pretty accurate. still prefer my quest 2 playing PCVR over any other option. PCVR isn't dead, it's just resting.

Standalone VR is a joke. Use Quest 2 with PC. Preferably via cable

A big negative of the Quest 2 for me is the 90 degree field of view. I sold my Quest 2 after a couple of weeks because it always felt like I was looking through a pair of binoculars. I'm really looking forward to the 20 degree FOV upgrade on the PSVR2, along with the visuals of course

People counting it as 1100 is really bizarre. The ps5 is another thing of value which has functions outside of just vr

The bottom line question is what is the cheapest mass market path to AAA VR Gaming? Answer: the PSVR 2.

Just recently got a quest 2 and have been enjoying it. Inside out tracking is definitely the way to go going forward. Ill probably pick up the psvr2 as well sometime after launch, the eye tracking and haptic feed back have me interested. I just hope that developers try and bring some psvr1 titles forward. Id love to see Dreams get a psvr2 version as well as re7. Unfortunately some are definitely not coming.

I have both PSVR and Quest and have PSVR2 preordered so not a fanboy here just a fan of VR. To be fair it is the Quest people that like to make this comparison by claiming the wire and price are going to hold it back. The PSVR will be superior in just about every way and the wire will no longer be a factor once people have tried it. Source: Everyone that has tried it. The price is only $150 more which is minimal considering the tech it comes with. If you add your Quest to a PC then you will be spending even more on Quest.

I'm not a fanboy of anything really. If a device meets my needs, I purchase and use it. I prefer PC options over PS, because a PC is more powerful, adaptable, upgradeable and versatile than a PS. I use my PC's for both work and gaming, which is something I can't do with a PS. PC's in general are much more expensive than a PS/PSVR, but they satisfy many more needs than a PS does.

Some people don't mind a wired headset. It depends on how they play and what they expect from the experience. Some people stand robotically in place when they play in VR, so a wire is not such an issue for them. I move around in VR as I would in real life, so the wire is a massive problem for me, as it is always in the way or getting damaged. Being free of the wire is more important to me, than just about any other feature, based on the way I play.

Some people like to play just about any game. I am very specific in the type of games that I like. So to me, it doesn't matter how vast a library of games is, as I won't play most of them anyway. Locking myself into a walled garden product like the PS, just to play a few games on it, isn't practical for me.

Anyone trying to say quest2 is better than psvr2 or trying to call psvr2 bad are fanboys who don't care about games and are ok with the low quality mobile games.

Quest the only mainstream headset will lead to vr being a niche forever and a gimmick.
Psvr2 is the best chance vr has at attracting the mainstream gamers over to vr.

I bought psvr1 at launch, soon gave up as it just isn't there compared to flat games, was close to buying meta2 to see if that had changed anything and decided it wasn't enough for me to trade flat gaming for vr.

Psvr2 however actually looks at the same level as flat games so I preordered and am hyped.
Hopefully it gets more AAA devs supporting it as that's where vr needs to be for it to survive.
AAA games playable in vr makes the vr a upgrade to flat gaming rather than downgrade the game catalogue to play in vr.

Psvr2 22nd Feb, and a pcvr headset (undecided) later in the year or next year if games are more supporting of vr

Sorry to say, but you didn't make me mad. ;-)

What I don't like about my Quest is that they are subsidizing the hardware by game purchases that are bound to their closed off ecosystem. And guess what the PSVR2 does just as well? 🤣

That's why I am all in for PC, and whatever HMD will let me do that has my money. 😎

Honestly I just ran with a quest 2 for being the cheapest one I could run on my pc. While VR only pc games might not be great rn, the VR compatible games are great, especially if you like simulation games like DCS, assetto Corsa and etc

As a gamer that has had every generation of Oculus headsets since the 2016 Rift CV1, and currently owns the outdated Quest 2, you gave an excellent and very accurate assessment of the situation between the 2 headsets. I have also owned the original HTC Vive and the PSVR1 but the PSVR1 I hated and returned after 1 week due to extremely poor tracking and controllers. I am not a FB/Meta fanboy, quite the opposite, but I am a Sony fanboy owning every generation of PlayStation console since the PS One.
I finally got my hands on a PS5 last week and I'm loving it. I am excited for the PSVR2 and hope to get one in the future, but I am waiting for there to be enough quality VR games in Sony's library before plunking down yet another $550. Especially since the PSVR2 games are at least 2x the price of the Quest 2 games. I would say that 80% of my games only cost $20. Since most of the games coming out at launch are ports I already own and have played and finished I won't be buying them. I am only interested in Horizon Call of the Mountain and Resident Evil: Village. I can't wait till more great games come out for the PSVR 2.

All things VR are awesome ! The more competing between companies equals better, more realistic products for us. I haven't powered on my Xbox in almost a year and I don't miss it.

I already have a quest 2 but I’ve played it so much now I have no free storage, there are a few scratches on the lenses you can see while playing, and the battery life is down to about an hour. So technically, I still have a working brown headset, but I’ve been thinking about saving up to get a PlayStation vr 2. Do you think I should or should I keep my quest?

Its good to have Sony in the race as competition will push and improve the industry. However with the quest 2 being portable allows me to show to family and friends to introduce them to VR it a win win

I fully agree with the statements you've made in this video. PSVR2 is a different experience against the Quest 2 standalone. They arent competitors to each other, PCVR vs PSVR2 is though. And now you have entered a $1400 price bracket to be on par with PSVR2 (Nvidia 3060 PC rig). Now in this comparison, PCVR vs PSVR2, the PSVR2 becomes a higher value and easier to use system. You dont have to understand specific software installation, hardware compatibility and trial and error tinkering to get PSVR2 up and running. PSVR2 can also force developers to optimize their games to run on PSVR2 so that their titles will reach a larger audience. PSVR2 is focused on creating AAA VR IPs instead of relying on smaller, indie companies to make AAA experiences. Companies take risks on making games for a smaller, niche VR consumer base and Sony is willing to soend that dough to make it happen, whereas the biggest advocate for PCVR, Facebook is not willing to spend money on AAA titles. Facebook wants to invest in next gen VR social experiences like Horizon Worlds where PSVR2 is bringing you Horizon Call of the Mountain on day one. Not to mention Resident Evil Village and Gran Turismo 7 also releases on day one for their console launch.
