Having an order to works makes life so much easier. When renovating, I prime my skirting and get that fitted first. Then the plasterer comes in to skim the walls tight to the skirting making a lovely neat line with no caulk needed, you have to worry less about external mitres as you can run a 45 degree cut and the plasterer can pull the wall into shape a little.

Any plaster cleans up easily off the primed surface and then ready to paint, so you can fit the radiators.
