Child Uninsured Rates Dropped During Pandemic

The rate of children without health insurance declined during the COVID pandemic according to an analysis of new Census Bureau Data by Georgetown University’s Center for Children and Families. They report that the child uninsurance rate dropped from 5.7% in 2019 to 5.4% in 2021. The change is largely attributed to rules that kept people continuously eligible in Medicaid during the pandemic. We explain.
