I dont think this will change much for the grand picture. Its great that these fantastic quality cameras will be more affordable to filmmakers, but the percentage of filmmakers that have the budget to work with these cameras aren't going to change. The prosumer market for content creators and social media is the biggest market. Not many will have a crew and an extensive post pipeline for RED.

I got a a RED upgraded to Dragon and then woke up to the fact that the company and systems are overpriced. RED hung around because maybe they got lucky or paid kickback money to the office for those ridiculous patents. I speculate. its like the company and artist who tried to patent that vanta black . but this is actually worst . Now I fear that nikon will continue with this poisonous patent with the rest of the industry.

Red will eventually collapse. Nikon will just stop the brand altogether. BMD has killed them and they have not been able to challenge Arri or Panavision for major production. They wanted to become mass market with high prices. Impossible.

Instead of getting Komodo, I can get 2 BMDs.
