One night I got really into the early 2000s emoticons, the "kaomojis" and went into a deep, deep hole researching them, this video is the culmination of that night.

So happy you have included different cultures) Interesting additional fact: in cyrillic texts often brackets start to function as markers of punctuation, replacing dots and commas. So, they work as markers of punctuation that indicates mood) Interestingly, if you have too much of them)) in a texts) it means you're nervous)))) and you're trying to cover it with making text super "look how smiling and friendly It's litteraly a textual version of smiling awkwardly and uncomfortably)))) and cyrillic keyboard is called yee-tsoo-Ken.

I find it incredibly interesting that nowadays, younger folks (including myself) tend to prefer emoticons and avoid emojis. (It varies in different demographics, of course, but in the places I am, I mostly see emoticons.) I think it's just the simplicity of the look, which makes it look more appealing, as opposed to the many colours and variations of emojis. Emoticons also allow you to be creative with them and mix and match certain aspects, which is fun.

Dude, the way this was edited feels like a massive breath of fresh air! Everything has so much character and they move so swiftly and snappily; it's like video games and that flat-colored graphic design style in one package.
