our car broke down on the way to Miami...what a nightmare. We had to get it towed to a garage and then find a rental car to finish our our drive. Luckily we always plan to arrive a day early so we made it to our cruise the next morning.

I Have been a number of cruises to Mexico and Canada on the Pacific Ocean coast. I have come to the point that I still go but just for the cruise part & I don't get off the ship, just enjoying the pool & good food.

I agree with not showing the debate. If you really want to watch it in real time you probably can on your tablet or phone privately. Golden rule on cruise ships: do not discuss politics or religion. It just gets some people really agitated. We are taking a cruise in 2026 and one of the few stops is in New Zealand. We are already paying extras in taxes in fees and won't be surprised if the pricing changes before final payment. Thank God for travel insurance. Thanks for sharing!

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep on saying it if cruise ships pull into the local pier, and the passengers disembark onto busses and go on a day tour somewhere, not a single cent is spent in the local economy but somewhere else! Local businesses are left footing the bill for providing services but not profiting from them. I’m in NZ but my brother manages a bus company in Scotland. He makes a bit of profit but local businesses in the area don’t make a blessed penny. His profit margin is paired way back because the tour ship operators screw the crap out of businesses supplying services. If a cruise ship fails to turn up he’s still got his drivers wages to cover.

My TA's son and 2 friends were on a train that got delayed. He told them to get off immediately and get an uber. They made the ship with 30 minutes to spare.
