Who invented punk rock? Was it the Ramones in New York? Was it the Sex Pistols in the UK? FALSE! It was Los Saicos in in Peru.

One of punk's best kept secrets, Los Saicos were the original Peruvian proto-punks. After storming onto the Peruvian music scene, Los Saicos rocked for only a little over a year, but left a lasting influence on the sound of the sixties and future punk to come.

I read an article of the BBC on some British paper talking about the birth of PUNK wasn't over the UK but in Perú I read about the band SAICOS and after reading the paper I was on my laptop downloading music from them and they are absolutely fabulous now this nice video

The biggest difference between this band and the rest of the stuff that was coming out of Seattle I.e. the sonics...is that these dude were isolated ... They had no idea of what was going up north...they had no idea who the sonics were. They made their own sound happen without any outside influence or following any scene. It's very cool if you think about it.
