Trex vs TimberTech Composite Decking Overhang

Both Trex and TimberTech scallop their economical composite decking but one provides better support with their scallop designing. Making a stronger decking edge.

We use solid edge on perimeter but good advertising for the cheeper boards lol

Would be nice if u used the right tres for the edge, they make a solid board with no slots use them all the time, we use to picture frame the deck

Trex doesn't expect you to use the decking boards for the picture frame. supposed to use the solid one. Yes it's more $ but it's just how they do it.

Yea the problem with trex in general is it warps and cups a lot when going cheaper end of the spectrum I prefer fiberon decking and support with a rim board then facia up to the rim board

So when i order timbertech, i order it solid! You never have to worry where it lands on the deck! Plus i put my facia flush to the top of the decking! Looks professional that way!

They make solid ones for top cap on handrails and borders

Even the economical ones offer a solid bored. Just order that for your picture frame and stairs. I learned this the hard way.

It's a great concept by Trex and also creates a drip edge. However, it's still a weak edge due to the thickness. An alternative is to find a contrasting color full thickness composite board, a full thickness board by the same manufacturer or a full thickness board that might match the color.
