Israel rescues hostage held by Hamas in Gaza

A 52-year-old hostage held in Gaza was rescued by the Israeli military. He is one of the few hostages to be freed by Israel in a military operation, almost a year after the Oct. 7 terrorist attack in southern Israel. NBC News' Matt Bradley reports.

Ion Mihai Pacepa and Yasser Arafat were connected to Moscow in 1964 during discussions that led to the establishment of the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization). Clause 24 of the original PLO Charter included opposition to any territorial claims by the PLO over the West Bank and Gaza Strip, which were then controlled by Jordan and Egypt. The focus was solely on claiming the land of Israel, not these territories.

Zahir Muhse'in, a PLO leader, stated in an interview with the Dutch newspaper Trouw in 1977 that the Palestinian identity is artificial and is used as a political tool to achieve goals against Israel.
