**ABOUT DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER**
In 1987, Pink Floyd made a triumphant resurgence. The legendary British band, formed in 1967, had suffered the loss of two co-founders: keyboardist/ vocalist Richard Wright, who left after sessions for The Wall in 1979, and bass player and lyricist Roger Waters, who had left to go solo in 1985, soon after the 1983 album The Final Cut.

The gauntlet was thus laid down for guitarist/singer David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason, who proceeded to create the multi-platinum A Momentary Lapse Of Reason album, a global chart smash, which also saw the return of Richard Wright to the fold.

Released in September 1987, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason was quickly embraced by fans worldwide, who flocked to attend the live tour dates, which started within days of the album’s release. The tour played to more than 4.25 million fans over more than 2 years, and, as a celebration of the enduring talent and global appeal of David, Nick and Richard (supported by 8 other stellar musicians on stage), was unsurpassed at the time. The setlist carefully balances the then-new material and Pink Floyd classics.

Filmed at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum in August 1988 and directed by Wayne Isham, the Grammy Award nominated Delicate Sound Of Thunder comes to cinemas for the first time in this global event release. This 2020 version is sourced directly from over 100 cans of original 35mm negatives, painstakingly restored and transferred to 4K, and completely re-edited by Benny Trickett from the restored and upgraded footage, under the creative direction of Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis. Similarly, the sound was completely remixed from the original multitrack tapes by longtime Pink Floyd engineer Andy Jackson with David Gilmour, assisted by Damon Iddins. Pink Floyd’s supporting cast includes: Jon Carin (Keyboards, Vocals), Tim Renwick (Guitars, Vocals), Guy Pratt (Bass, Vocals), Gary Wallis (Percussion), Scott Page (Saxophones, Guitar), Margret Taylor (Backing Vocals), Rachel Fury (Backing Vocals) and Durga McBroom (Backing Vocals). Technical credits include: Film Producers: Curt Marvis and Carl Wyant; Director of Photography: Marc Reshovsky; Lighting Designer: Marc Brickman.

David Gilmour is the ultimate guitar player. Every single note is thought out and planned, every bend. This man is a genius and probably the greatest showman who ever walked this planet. To this day no rockstar is cooler than David.

I went to my uncles funeral today. Pink Floyd was one of his favorite bands. One of the songs we listened to was "Wish you were here." So thank you for making him happy.

My now passed father played this video so often on our big screen TV when I was growing up in the late 80s/early 90s, blasting the stereo! This makes me miss him SO much!

THE Best live version of "Run Like Hell"! From the pounding percussion that sets the tone, to David Gilmour's rough-hewn vocals, to Guy Pratt's menacing co-vocals, to the incredibly synchronous backup singers and dancers who place the perfect emphasis vocally and visually, this is the most impactful version and should be preserved for generations. This gets me pumped up at the gym and at home when I need a lift!

When he lays into that impeccable delay riff, the entire universe stomps its gigantic foot in time.

This live version still gives me chills every single time I watch it. This is pure, shear, raw talent at its best.

I NEVER get tired of watching that performance. The playing, light show choreography, singing dancers, all of it. Genius! But, it's Pink Floyd after all.

There is so much to be said about that stage and lighting crew, working behind the scenes to add a dimension to the band that is so important. When they played Boston in Foxboro Stadium in the early 90's, I counted 17 tractor trailer trucks behind the stadium. They got three shows out of that set up, but I cannot fathom the work they had to do before each show. For crying out loud, they build a BUILDING in the middle of the field to do engineering and projection onto that massive round screen, set in their own half-shell that must have been 6 stories high and supported an enormous phalanx of lighting structure. They had full delay-balanced surround sound for the entire stadium. Every one of the 30, 000 seats heard sound quality like they were wearing headphones. The engineering boggles my mind.

This video makes me so happy.... Richard Wright looks so alive and vibrant here.... he deserves to enjoy himself in life.... he put so much work into Floyd and received so little in return for it.... this is a form of redemption for him.... you live on Mr. Wright !!!

Saw them at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia on a rainy September Saturday night in 1987. Probably the best concert I ever saw. Something about this song done live that puts it at another level of greatness. I miss the 80’s.
